about the splendid love song

i miss char... and it will be 11 days more before we see each other again...

while purging the files in my PC, I stumbled upon this song by Orange and Lemons and now its on replay. quite a cheesy song but it's so pleasant to the ears, with a hint of 80's and "The Company" and something else...

Just Like a Splendid Love Song
Orange and Lemons

Spending my days with you
Is like living in a world of fancy
With all the beautiful people I know
Makin’ love in a world of vivid colours
How often have I been there

Well it really doesn’t matter
As long as we’re together

You and me, together we will journey
To seek and see the colours of our fantasies
Come to life with the stroke of your soothing hands
All the questions of life
I will come to understand

Seasons come and seasons go
Stars will shine and lose their glow
But every time I try to look back, I know

You and me in love with each other
There will be no problems that will bother
Just the two of us painting a world of our own
Everything is perfect
Just like a splendid love song

miss you dad!

about the morning after... Eheads!

Char and I watched the Eraserheads one-night only Reunion concert last night. Sayang di kme umabot sa VIP list ni Markus sa Multiply pero sabi nga ni Char "libre man o hindi MANONOOD tayo!" They're his favorite band and he will not miss the opportunity to see them play again LIVE!

We were in Bonifacio High Street around 5pm, parked super near the concert venue. Ate early dinner and was inside the venue by 630. Went as close to the railings. First time I saw so many bouncers, as in big muscular bouncers, somewhat scary at times. More than an hour and a half wait before the concert began. Around 815 there was a ten minute countdown, one of the most exciting ten minutes of my life! Akala mo New Year. Intro pa lang ng Alapaap everyone have gone wild! Ely, Raimund, Buddy and Markus rose from underneath the stage. Parang reincarnation. First song was capped with fireworks, super galing! Ely even joked, that's it! Goodnyt! ehehe... then Ligaya.. Sembreak...

It was visually and musically entertaining, most of the songs were "updated/rearranged" but done beautifully. Pictures of the band was projected to the big screen making it more nostalgic. It was so surreal. The succeeding songs feels like you're in a big karaoke bar, everybody was singing. There was even a time na audience lang ang kumakanta, Ely just stood staring at the crowd obviously amazed.

Though full of energy lahat, feel mo yung tension between them. Walang kwento kwento. Kanta lang ng kanta. Walang pang fill in kung baga. But if you know the band well, alam mong ganun nga sila mag perform but still kakaiba eh. There was a time Markus wore a monster mask. La lang, trip lang. Heard 2 songs I am not that familiar with(Kaliwete and LIghtyears). After the last song, Lightyears, we saw an emotional Ely somewhat crouched in the stage and holding his chest. We thought he was just emotional with her Mom passing last thursday because the song indeed was about letting go. end of set 1...

Then after 40 minutes, came the announcement. Char and I did not believed it at first. Joke ba yun? He thought hindi sila Markus, Buddy and Raimund yung nasa stage, that it was a gimik. Then came Francis Lumen of MTV Philippines, and yes it was for real, we gave a silent prayer for Ely that night, all 30,000 of us.
Though it's hard to accept that the concert is indeed over, (the announcer have to remind us to go out of the concert venue in an orderly manner more than 3 times). We silently left the concert grounds.

Hats off din ako sa crowd, they have the emotional maturity to fully understand what happened. We truly understand. This was a concert that was supposed to be canceled not just once. Ely's position was really a though act, physically and emotionally. If my Mom died a few days before I will surely be so drained now.

We heard that it was supposed to be a 3 set concert with 30 songs. Sayang we were not able to hear "Huling El Bimbo", "Magazin", "Pare ko" and the rest but the experience itself was so surreal. Thank God Ely is in stable condition now. And when the time come... another reunion will be in place... this time the full set pls.

about comfort food

Char and I have been into "comfort foods" lately.

according to Wiki, many people turn to comfort food for familiarity, emotional security, or as a special reward... no... we did not had it for a special reward but instead we had it for the emotional security (if there is such a thing...)

lately we have encountered "challenges," both on our career and personal lives. we are not complaining though, we have each other to lean on. come to think of it, just when we thought things are going bad, good news arrives... and that makes us grateful that we have our comfort foods... for those days when we have extra servings of life' s challenges.

about a year ago... part 2

same title... different year...

seems like I only get to update this blog EVERY year, "tamadster" me (as Chartotem would say).

BUT now, I will make sure to update this at least a month.. hah! so what happened the last few months? let me borrow Hermione's time-turner...

Oct 2007

wedding month of my college best friend Fe (codename: orange) and Ron. I love this couple so much. not your typical BF-GF, you will rarely see them making PDA. first time I saw them kiss and hug was on their wedding day! I can absolutely tell everything to Orange, so many good college memories... the Dawn.. Side A... DLSU-Ateneo games... and of course I won't forget the numerous food trips! love you Fe and Ron! see you in a few weeks... we are going to watch Cinderella... time to expose Chartotem to some culture... hahaha...

Nov 2007

gameshark.. gamesharkreloaded... charraven... Chartotem and I bought this small computer shop in Anonas. and that my what kept me busy these days plus other sidelines (another post). This is like a step up to our goal, since we both like online games and computers in general why not go into business of internet cafes? no more reason not to play WoW and MU and flyff and... ahaha... funny thing is I haven't been playing that much since we started our biz but the good news is that our electric bill at home drastically went down.

had so much fun as went to that Carnival near MOA with the whole family (+1-1 reserved for another post) for Nanay's Birthday. been so long since that last time we've seen each other, missed the kids so much... mas malaki pa sa akin si Kiel and Annel!

this was also the month my Tita Gaya had her 2nd stroke...

Dec 2007

07Dec07, our dear Tita Ligaya Alonzo died after almost a week in coma. sad day for the Rosales clan, Tita Gaya is the sweetest Tita. She saw me grew up as we used to live in the same house before moving to Laguna... she took care of me during my high school days when I had to stay in Manila due to late night classes... she was there at every important event in my life... my graduation... fiesta/family bdays in laguna... Char's family "pamamanhikan"... our wedding... etc... she also took good care of Mai, as she was her own child... she became their "bunso" and "unica ihja"... Love you Tita... Happy Birthday!(it's her Bday today 23Jul)

this was also the wedding month of Debbie & Ferdie, though I wasn't able to help them on the day itself I helped them through the wedding preps. they are now back in the US, though not same state, trying to make babies :D ... Debs and I are hoping to have little ones by next year!

70th Bday of Lolo Papa... Chartotem's Dad. semi-organized the event since it was held in the province. proud of the invites and tarp that I made... hehehe (love your own)... spent Christmas in Lopez... cooked roasted chicken and mashed potatoes (yum!).... New Year's Eve in Laguna... cooked roasted chicken(again!), roast pork (yum yum!), potato salad and brownies.

kinda sleepy now... to be continued...

about cafe juanita

last night i organized a casual dinner for my good friends Ron & Fe, who are getting married this thursday at Cafe Juanita. Char was impressed with the place, reminiscing about their old house in the province... the capiz, antiques and cabinets, and so was all who came to dinner; most of them lives within the area but did not know that such a nice quaint sophisticated place exists as they just passed by it everyday.

it was nice that I was able to reserve the second floor for our dinner, looks like we were in the dining room of a rich lola relative, we had the place by ourselves. food was great! we had the twice-cooked adobo ribs, kare-kare, soy chicken, bagnet salad, corned beef sinigang (better than Sentro's) and laing. the other table had pasta and sisig, we had to order ahead as they came late(almost 9, we were there @7).

what's best was the company that we had that night, from the ever soft-spoken Ayick(bro of Fe) to ever comic Tata(sis of Ron), don't forget Erwin with his funny interpretation of Master Yoda. It was Ron & Fe's night to hang out with family and friends and we surely had fun.

about self control

i have nothing against self control but if you ended up hurting yourself... that's another story.

that's what happened to Char yesterday, an early morning outrage concerning his nephew. after a series of not so good events came another. he doesn't want to hurt his nephew so he ended up punching our wall which resulted to his swollen hands and blisters (I didn't know that he can throw a punch like that! >.<). this was the first time I saw him really fuming mad. which reminds me that i need to talk to his nephew while he's out of town... hope things will be better when he comes back.

about the song on replay button

my song for the week: i heard it first from one of my high school friends... it was kinda "their song"... she doesn't want me to use it nga nung wedding ko but she also did not use it during her own wedding. the song relaxes me... i also saw the video in YouTube... i'll be putting this on our Ipod... on replay...

Kissing by Bliss

The red light of the sun, slowly descending.
The sky is all I see, it's never ending.

We could fly, you and I.
On a cloud, kissing, kissing.

The wind plays with the leaves, the weather turns colder.
But as long as we believe, love doesn't get older.

We could fly, you and I.
On a cloud, kissing, kissing.

On a journey of the heart, there's so much to see.
And when the sky is dark, you'll be right here, right here with me.

Right here with me.
Kissing. (Kissing, kissing)(A journey of the heart)

oh well... i'm back... after almost a year in hibernation(blogwise) i decided to give this another chance...

so what happened during the last year? hmmm... lemme think... lots... i'll update some other time...
_______

last week i was in high spirits.. extremely high spirit that is... i thought our plans are finally coming thru but NO... by the end of the week i feel slumped, tired and sad. so many i should have and if's... it's plainly frustrating... i feel like crying... i felt like a child promised to go to Disneyland but the promise got broken... sana delayed flight lang...

then today i got a call from a friend... chika update... she was called back to work last may, though we had a talk before that we will never go back... she still accepted the offer and now she hates it again... oh well i guess i'm really "ma-pride" and never as in never will i go back... don't get me wrong but i'm happy for her she's one of my closest friend back when i was still working... more of a confidant... about another friend: her dad passed away last july(God bless his soul). it was a short chika coz she was still on her way home but still a welcomed chika.

about the one who got away

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY
source: the manila times
by: mark j. macapagal

in your life, you'll make note of a lot of people. ones with whom you shared something special, ones who will always mean something. there's the one you first kissed, the one you first loved, the one you lost your virginity to, the one you put on a pedestal, the one you're with... and the one that got away.

who is the one that got away? i guess it's that person with who everything was great, everything was perfect, but the timing was just wrong. there was no fault in the person, there was no flaw in the chemistry, but the cards just didn't fall the right way, i suppose. i believe in the fact that ending up with someone, finding a longtime partner that is, does not lie merely in the other person. i can actually argue that an equal part, or maybe even the greater part, has to do with the matter of timing. it has to do with you being ready to settle down and commit to someone in a way that goes beyond the little niceties of giddy romance. how often have you gone through it without even realizing it? when you're not ready to commit in that mature manner, it doesn't matter who you're with, it just doesn't work. small problems become big; inconsequentials become deal breakers simply because you're not ready and it shows. it's not that you and the person you're with are no good; it’s just that it's not yet right, and little things become the flashpoint of that fact...

then one day you're ready. you really are. and when this happens you'll be ready to settle down with someone. he or she may not be the most perfect, they might not be the brightest star of romance to ever have burned in your life, but it'll work because you're ready. it'll work because it's the right time and you'll make it work. and it'll make sense, it really will.so that day comes when you're finally making sense of things, and you find yourself to be a different person. things are different, your approach is different, you finally understand who you are and what you want, and you've become ready because the time has truly arrived. and mind you, there's no telling when this day will come. hopefully you're single but you could be in a long-term relationship, you could be married with three kids, it doesn't matter. all you know is that you've changed, and for some reason, the one that got away, is the first person you think about.

you'll think about them because you'll wonder, "what if they were here today?" you'll wonder, "what if we were together now, with me as i am and not as i was?" that's what the one that got away is, the biggest "what if?" you'll have in your life. if you're married, you'll just have to accept the fact that the one that got away, got away. believe me, no matter how fairy tale you think your marriage is, this can happen to the best of us.

but hopefully you're mature enough to realize that you're already with the one you're with and this is just another test of your commitment, one that will just strengthen your marriage when you get past it. sure, you'll think about him/her every so often, but it's alright. it's never nice to live with a "might have been," but it happens... maybe the one that got away is the one who's already married. in which case it's the same thing. you just have to accept and know that your memories of that person will probably bring a nice little smile to your lips in the future when you're old and gray and reminiscing. but if neither of that is the case, then it's different. what do you do if it's not yet too late? simple... find him, find her. because the very existence of a "one that got away" means that you'll always wonder, what if you got that one? ask him out to coffee, ask her out to a movie, it doesn't matter if you've dropped in from out of nowhere. you'd be surprised, you just might be "the one that got away" as well for the person who is your "the one that got away." you might drop in from out of nowhere and it won't make a difference. if the timing is finally right, it'll all just fall into place somehow and you know, i'm thinking, it would be a great feeling, in the end, to be able to say to someone, "hey you, you're the one that almost got away."

i met a girl in grade school. her face was the most beautiful face i have ever seen. her hair, black as the night sky, swayed gracefully as she walked in campus. from the moment i saw her i knew i liked her. i was seven, puppy love, they said. the kind that easily fades away.

we were in grade one when i first wrote her a letter. and in that same year i stole a kiss. she was my first kiss. i was her first kiss too. up to now the memory of that kiss lingers vividly in my mind. years passed, i still wrote her letters and she answered some of it. it was enough for me. i knew it was unrequited love, sad, but at the same time i was contented that i loved her. in high school i met other girls and everytime i thought that was the end of the puppy love i had. but whenever a flame ended i kept coming back to her. i found solitude in loving her.

on our senior year, the unexpected happened. she learned to love me too; it was no longer unrequited love. i was the happiest man alive when i learned about it. but there was one glitch, she was committed to another. it's ok, i told myself. i courted her but after sometime i felt guilty. it was unfair. i pitied the other guy, i thought i wouldn't want my girl to be snatched by another. so i made a decision, i stopped. and this is one decision i will regret for the rest of my life. one of the biggest mistakes i have ever made. it wasn't unfair, it is never unfair. all is fair in love and war, the cliche says.

we parted ways after graduation. i went to college and i was welcomed into a bigger world but but we still communicated from time to time. i had a couple of relationships but none lasted for more than a few months. for most of the time i was single and there were times that i still thought about her. sometimes i think that maybe i'm just holding onto a 'dead star'. maybe i no longer love her. or maybe i still love her. then one day i received a forwarded email, an essay entitled the one that got away. and within the same week i received an email from her. coincidence? the first thing that came into my mind was the quote from paulo coehlo's novel, the alchemist, "when you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it." i thought the universe was already conspiring to give me the girl i loved the most.

she was inviting me to go out for coffee so we could talk. she said they were planning to get married in a year or two but before that she wanted to settle whatever unfinished business we had. she wanted to get rid of "what if's" running in her head. i was elated at the thought that she was entertaining what if questions about us.

we met and talked over coffee. i gave her my long due explanation as to why i suddenly stopped courting her. and how i regret making that fatal decision. she told me she loved me then and there was a time they broke up but i didn't knew about it. now she's getting married. i said before she decide let me ask her one question. one question, and if she answered yes i will leave them in peace forever.

"are you one-hundred percent sure that you really want to marry him?"

the question made her uneasy, i felt like there was still a little chance for an "us." but she said they've been together for eight years and she wouldn't want a third party to be the reason if ever they don't end up together so she told me to just leave them be. if we were meant for each other then we will be together. let destiny take its course. i said i respect her decision but i'm sending her an email entitled the one that got away. maybe it was some sort of a desperation move. the following day she sent an email:

grabe, sakto yun ha, tamang-tama ang mga nakasulat.. bakit ganon, akala ko after natin mag-usap kagabi masasabi kong wala na talaga, yung bang we could never be lovers at all, bago ako nakipag-usap sau sigurado ko sa feelings ko, mahal ko si ***, but after our talk, sigurado pa rin naman ako na mahal ko sya but i suddenly felt confused..why?.. the answer is that i really don't know.. mas lalo naging complicated lalo nung tinanong mo ko kung sure na ba ako.. ayokong maging unfair sknya, bigla ko tuloy naisip, sana hindi na tayo nag-usap, sana hinyaan ko na lang, bahala na panahon ang makapagsabi.. alam mo ba yung song na may lyrics na, "we have right love at the wrong time", ganon tayo..

we have the right love at the wrong time.

in one of them forwarded emails they say that there's only one person whom you will love the most, at any given point in your life, and that person may not be the one you will spend the rest of your life with. you may have met him/her a few years earlier, or way way earlier, than the time you were ready to settle down. you may even have met him/her in between some people you also loved, but not as much.

very few people are lucky enough to have found both in one person, the one they love the most and the one they'll spend the rest of their lives with.

in my case i found the girl whom i loved the most seventeen years ago and as young as i may have been at that time, i knew i could never fall in love again with as much intensity, as much passion, with the way i felt at that time. and i felt that way for a very long time.

as the years passed we have lost and re-established communication, we have been into relationships with other people, but all the while i was believing that we were destined for each other. i lived in the illusion that we will have our own and-they-lived-happily-ever-after ending. i lived in a dream that we will spend the rest of our lives together. heck, even my parents were rooting for us.

last month, my mom told me that the girl is getting married to her boyfriend for eight years, in a few months time.

i was saddened by the news but at the same time i felt happy for her. i imagine her walking down the aisle wearing her best smile (and that is a very beautiful smile), her groom eagerly waiting for her. i could have been that lucky man. but i will be glad with the thought that she will be exchanging i do's with a man whom i believe has loved her more than anyone ever did. maybe much much more than i did. but not as long, that i can boldly claim.

i will be happy to remain as one of her friends, i guess it's the next best thing. i wish them a happy married life. for the meantime, i will wait for the one i will spend the rest of my life with..

to the one that got away, i offer you this quote from tinkerbell in the movie, hook:

you know the place between you know you're asleep and awake? the time when you can still remember what you were dreaming? that's where i will always love you."

about a wedding

a friend of mine got married last Friday for the 2nd time! (don't worry it'
s the same girl =D) and they're planning a third wedding, a church wedding this time, on Dec 2007 and guess what, he asked me to coordinate it. i don't know if it was just a joke or what, but i am very willing to help them besides they're getting married in Caleruega in Tagaytay and the reception will be at Sonya's Garden, very memorable places for me. i'm so excited!!!

about the code

last night, me & my high school buddies watched The DaVinci Code, the movie was a good adaptation of the book. after the movie we were all thinking what else was cut-off from the book, oh well... A LOT! but nonetheless it captured the essence.

about the cup of tea

it's been a long time since i've dropped by this blog, if not because of my kuya, who have started his own blog, i would have not remembered... oh well i think another cup of tea is needed...

happy... it was our second month as husband and wife... there were ups and downs, lessons learned and to be learned... still full speed ahead to our journey of our life together...

happy... coz I was able to have dinner with my family

sad... coz we are not complete

it's been two months since there was a big fight with the girls in my family and its heartbreaking for me to think that it started after the biggest day of my life... they are all important and it breaks my heart when they say bad things about each other... I dont want to take side, I know my family too well... and we are all stubborn!
